Night vision to Mammals by Nanotechnology

As we all know, Nanotechnology is the branch of technology that typically deals with the nanometre ranged materials or structures. In our day to day life, its applications play a very important role almost in every field. One of its prominent application is towards the medical and biomedical field

The current application of nanotechnology is to trigger the tumour cells with the help of certain nanoparticles and kill them in a very short and safe manner. Nanoscale devices make use of sensors to detect the cancer cells inside our body in the cancer nanotechnology. In this type of sensors, they may use a wide variety of detecting elements such as carbon nanotubes, palladium nanoparticles, nanowires and so on.

A recent most fascinating application of nanotechnology is that they can give night vision to the mammals by using the lectin nanoparticles to fit the nanoantennae into the place.

Human eyes can sense the light in the visible range. It is impossible for human eyes to detect the light in the infrared and ultraviolet range. Generally, Mammals does not have proper night vision due to NIR(Near Infrared). NIR is the portion of the electromagnetic spectrum which is directly adjacent to the visible region. For this reason, human eyes are invisible to dark vision.

Scientists discovered an innovative idea of placing the nanoantennae just nearer to the photo receptor of the eye by making use of nanoparticles. So that, NIR can directly hit into the nanoantennae and it converts NIR light into green light which is visible to the human eye.

This technique is highly safe and biocompatible. There are no additional wearables required for this method and there will be no side effects after glueing the nanoantennae into the eye.
